Indo-American Friendship 2009

India Forum Inc hosted a very successful 26th. Annual Indo-American Friendship Dinner on Oct 3rd. 2009, at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center in Baltimore, MD. The dinner was attended by Honorable Paul Sarbanes, Congressman John Sarbanes, House Majority leader Kumar P. Barve, 42nd Legislative District Delegate, Stephen Lafferty, Senator Katherine A. Klausmeier, Secretary, Dept of General services, Alvin C. Collins, Delegate Adrienne Jones, Yash Gupta Dean, Carey Business School Johns Hopkins, Economist, Anirban Basu, Governors Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs, Kamala Edwards, Deputy Mayor Christopher Thomaskutty, Ms. Mary Pat Clerk, Council Woman of Baltimore City, Franklin Odo, Director Asia Pacific Smithsonian Homespun Project, Representative Rev Jerome from the office of Senator Ben Cardin, Representative Lee from the Maryland Governor’s office and Nancy Smith, Director, Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation.

This years Dinner was dedicated to celebrate the 140th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and to pay tribute to the contributions of Senator Edward M. Kennedy. An original footage from Mahatma Gandhi’s life time was shown to mark the event and the Board of Trustees of India Forum presented a Plaque to honor Senator Kennedy. There was a traditional dance performance of Bharatnatyam followed by delicious Indian food and dessert. India Forum released a Souvenir magazine to mark this event.
