Holi Dance Competition 2012

Holi, a festival of colors is celebrated in India to mark the beginning of new season, spring and the prosperity and abundance in life that comes with the harvest season. Holi is also associated with Hindu mythology and legends of victory of good over evil. It is celebrated at the end of lunar month Phalgun (February/ March), (Phalgun - Purnima) which usually falls in the later part of the February or March.

IFI organized an Annual Dance Competition on April 29, 2012 at Jim Rouse Auditorium to celebrate the festivity, livelihood and exuberance of the season and the festival of young hearts. Colorful and Vibrant dance performances depict folk and festival traditions and rich culture from different regions of India.

100 Plus participants participated from Elementary, Middle & High Schools of MD, VA and DC which included Group and Solo performances. Also Held Folk and festival based numbers from traditional & Bollywood background.
